    Hiking

Deep Gap Trail begins at the picnic area next to the Mount Mitchell Summit parking lot and continues over several of the 6,000 foot peaks in the Black Mountains. After you pass the first main peak on the ridge (Mount Craig), the trail is less used and more strenuous.
