The traces of human settlement in Hohenaverbergen go back to protohistoric times. After the last ice age came. non-sedentary hunters and gatherers in the region. First residences are known from the Stone Age (about 8000 to 4000 BC). Numerous burial mounds document the early settlement activity. Special attention deserves an early Ice Age place of worship in the Dalsch, which is also to visit.
