Chapel of the Visitation of Mary (Zöhrerkapelle)

Of the natives usually only after the Vulgonamen of the owner yard with "Zöhrerkapelle" named, is the actual designation chapel "Maria Heimsuchung".
Built in 1798, it stands according to tradition at one of the former Reichenfels plague graveyards.
It was consecrated in 1799 and today is a center for the local devotion to the Virgin Mary. Inside there is a baroque high age, numerous statues and beautiful votive paintings.
Every year on 2 July a pilgrimage to the chapel takes place.

Zöhrerkapelle "Maria Heimsuchung": At 1,100 m above sea level above Reichenfels on the ridge that climbs towards the Pressner Alpe, Langegg near the house is located. Zöhrer the "Maria Heimsuchung" chapel. The place where the chapel stands today is said to have served as a burial place for plague deaths during the plague period.

Beautiful little chapel that lies along the mountain bike route. A great photo opportunity.
