The small tree houses or platforms in the trees in the fields are used as a watchtower for elephants. A herd of elephants can destroy a whole crop in one night. Before the harvest time, the farmer keeps watch on his platform and makes noises with a rattle, tin pots or the like to drive out the elephants. No harmless action, the small high seat can sometimes be attacked by an angry elephant.
