The "Pfaelzer Weltachs" goes back to a poem by Paul Münch, which states that the world axis is located in the center of the Palatinate state and the Pfalz was entrusted with the lubrication of the world axis. This red sandstone was installed by a forestry official in the 1960s and bears the inscription "Lubrication of the world axis". Traditionally, the stone is "re-oiled" once a year. How it came to this: The Bavarian administration had a landmark set on a small rock table in order to be able to measure the area typographically. Nothing extraordinary in itself. But the dialect poet Paul Münch (1879-1951) made here in a poem the axis of the world out of it.
