The Wied rises under the roots of an ancient beech tree. You cannot take any water here, but it is a beautiful, idyllic resting place in an important place. By the way: Although the Wied is 102 kilometers long, the source and confluence with the Rhine are only 34 kilometers apart as the crow flies.
