Beautiful but also well-visited lake. Located about 200 meters below Lac de Capitello. It can be reached from the GR20 by descending to the Brèche de Capitello or by climbing through the Restonica valley.

  • The recommended easier route on the right side of the valley we found more strenuous and difficult. Very loose boulders. Generally bad condition of the ways. The walk to the lake and back is recommended for children over 6 years. Alpine experienced children from 6 maybe? I would go left side in both directions on another visit. The 2 ladders and the point with rope safety device are easy to walk on.

  • The walk from the car park to Lac de Melu is really a must when in Corte. We paid 6 euros for the parking ticket in September and parked at the top of the last parking lot. From there the easy way is easy to find. After 1.5 kilometers, the path divides. In our opinion, neither way is easier or easy. Left (seen from the valley) is very blocked with large rocks, right is only for vertigo. You have to overcome two places with ladders.
The tour is not FlipFlop suitable but for experienced hikers in two hours to go. Those who take a break should think of Vesper and jacket. There is no way to find protection.

  • You have to reach the parking lot before nine o'clock, otherwise it gets very crowded and you have to park further down in the valley. There is a lot going on here in high season. Parking fees €6 for cars and €3 for motorcycles. The hike can only be completed with good shoes and enough fluids because the path is blocked and full of rubble. It doesn't matter which path you choose. The view and the crystal clear lake make the hike worthwhile. I give the hike an S3 to S4 level of difficulty. Only possible with children who enjoy running. You are no longer allowed to swim in the lake. I didn't see any prohibition signs at the upper lake.

  • The water is freezing cold, but also crystal clear. The lake invites you to swim and cool off after the ascent.

  • Very popular, therefore often very overcrowded tour. Still very nice.

  • The walk to Melosee is relatively easy, but is underestimated by many. You are still in the high mountains, so mountain equipment is definitely recommended. Arriving at the lake, however, the refreshing water invites you to cool off.

  • The right side from the valley to the Lac de Melo is much easier to walk than the left. The scree was partially cleared out of the way here. Difficult places were secured by ladders and chains. At weddings, however, there is a lot of business here. A beautiful mountain panorama compensates for everything.

  • A visit to Lake Melo is worthwhile for the leisurely hiker. However, the peak times should be avoided in the high season!

  • A very worthwhile destination, in summer the lake even invites you to take a bath.

  • We took the ladders because of the Kraxen. Some have descended across the slabs without ladders. Only works with non-slip soles and in dry conditions. The ladders defuse the spots…

  • For the way there with children (9 and 13 years with us) choose the left path for the ascent; to descend then the right path with 2 ladders and 2 chains. We found it easier this way. Bath pumps are also available. Usually only in the direction of the parking lot.
