For one that is undertaking the South Francigena Way this view point, at the city of Castel Gandolfo, is a mandatory stop. Other attractions of this city concerns the pope's vacation retreat (nowadays it has not beeing used by pope Francis), and lots of genuine restaurants. An interesting fact it is that all these territories (the Roman Castles) had been the place where the ancient city of Albalonga sitted and the home of many emperors. Continuing in the South Francingena Way, it leaves this beautiful city though a nice cycleway that connects Castel Gandolfo to Albano Laziale.
