The Temple in the Forum is dedicated to the goddess Roma and the emperor Augustus. It was built between the 2nd and 14th centuries BC, when Augustus died. Its form is typical of a temple structure. The temple's function changed: at the end of the polytheistic antiquity, its primary function also ended. It became a church, later a grain elevator, and at the beginning of the 19th century, it housed the Museum of Stone Monuments. In 1944, it was almost completely destroyed during a bombing raid. It was reconstructed from 1945 to 1947, and today it houses a small exhibition of ancient stone and bronze statues. It is believed that the twin temple, of which only the rear wall survives, was built at the same time and in the same style, and according to legend, it was called the Temple of Diana.
