Very nice castle in Wernstein. Music events are often held here, which are really great. The castle is one of the most beautiful castle complexes in Upper Franconia. The Künsberg family has lived there for over 600 years. The castle consists of half-timbered elements and sandstone and is one of the Renaissance buildings.

  • In 1370, Messrs. Von Künßberg built a "solid" house on the basalt cone of the Bärenstein (or Bernstein), from which later the present castle developed. It was only between 1764 and 1793 that the lord of the castle had a settlement of 11 "drip houses" built for his servants, from which today's Wernstein developed.burgen.de/burgen-und-schloesser/deutschland/burg-wernstein

  • Unfortunately, the castle cannot be visited as it is privately owned. But the facility is also a real eye-catcher from the outside.

  • Caution! The castle is privately owned and can only be viewed from afar. But below there is a nice forest path to a waterfall.
