The spoil heap of the former Graf Schwerin colliery is today the highest point in the city of Castrop-Rauxel – and one of the region's best-known landmarks. Which is not least thanks to the walkable sundial on the summit.

Hiking

The Schwerin slag heap is the spoil heap of the former Graf Schwerin mine in Castrop-Rauxel in the Schwerin district, which was closed in 1967. At 151 m above sea level, it is now the highest elevation in Castrop-Rauxel and towers over the highest natural elevations of the Castrop Heights at a good 135 m. From here you have a beautiful panoramic view.
