The history of the place can be traced back to the early Middle Ages. 788/790, an ecclesia Nuzdorf, which was equipped with a property (cum territorio), is mentioned in the Notitia Arnonis. A document shows that on May 15, 1097, Emperor Henry IV stopped in Nußdorf while traveling from Verona to Regensburg. The local noble family of the Clammensteiner at the castles Klammenstein and Ramsau is mentioned here in documents from the 12th century. The last Clammensteiner, Konrad III, bequeathed his fortune to the two Nußdorf churches in 1402. In 1950 the community adopted the coat of arms of this noble family.Source and further information
