Freising (formerly Frigisinga, Frisinga, Freisingen, Freysing, Latin: Frisinga) is a large district town and university city in Bavaria and next to Munich, the only regional center in the Munich region. It is located on the Isar about 30 kilometers north of Munich. The city was a seat of the duchy in the first Bavarian duchy of the duchy and acquired great importance as an early medieval episcopal see and later as the center of the Hochstift Freising. With the rise of Munich and secularization, the city lost importance. Today, Freising is the administrative headquarters of the Freising district of the same name. The Weihenstephan Science Center of the Technical University of Munich, the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences and other research and educational institutions surround the former Weihenstephan Abbey. Just outside the city in Erdinger Moos is Munich Airport. Due to the resulting strong influx of new citizens, the city end of 2016, including secondary residences, exceeded the limit of 50,000 inhabitants.Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freising
