Mountain Biking Highlight
On the so-called ERBA site, the Bavarian State Garden Show took place in 2012. 1.05 million visitors came to this cheerful, colorful flower and garden party in this northwestern part of the city. The park on the former grounds of the garden show has largely been preserved and has been freely accessible since spring 2013.
Especially the five great playgrounds are a huge attraction for children. Located on the northern tip of the two Regnitz arms the area then forms a counterpart to the historically grown city park Hain in the south of the city.
The area belongs to the district Gaustadt, the city center is about two kilometers away. Before the big changes to the Landesgartenschau, the grounds belonged to the ERBA, a large cotton spinning mill from the middle of the 19th century. The park's industrial past becomes apparent in the large redbrick factory building that is now a student residence and various buildings still scattered around the site, such as the former director's villa or the ERBA tower.
