The Bavarian State Garden Show took place on the so-called ERBA site in 2012. 1.05 million visitors came to a cheerful and colorful flower and garden festival in this north-western part of the city. The park on the former site of the garden show was largely preserved and has been freely accessible again since spring 2013.
The five great playgrounds in particular are a huge attraction for children. Located on the northern tip of the island of the two arms of the Regnitz, the site then forms a counterpart to the historically grown Hain city park in the south of the city.
The site belongs to the Gaustadt district, the city center is around two km away. Before the major renovations for the state horticultural show, the site belonged to ERBA, a large cotton spinning mill from the mid-19th century. This industrial past of the park can be seen in the large red brick factory building, which is now a student residence, and in various buildings that are still spread across the site, such as the former director's villa or the ERBA tower.
