This is actually the old gunpowder storage which was built outside the center after the previous storage blew up and flattened a good chunk of the city.

Now houses a scouting- oriented student society.

The entrance gate of the powder magazine , 't Kruithuis, build in 1660. The former one, situated in the inner city, exploded in 1654, killing hundreds. The decision was made to build the new powder magazine, outside the city centre, at a distance of a 'canonshot'. The powder magazine could hold a total of 400.000 pounds of gun powder. It is a good starting point, following the cycling path alongside the river Schie, into the city of Delft.
