    The Rennsteiglied is in Thuringia and beyond well-known three-strophic Wanderlied. The text is by Karl "Kaschi" Müller (1925-2011), the music of Herbert Roth (1926-1983).

    The song is about the connection to Thuringia, its nature and the experiences of hiking on the Rennsteig and was on April 14, 1951 in the community hall (today: "Hotel and Gasthof zum Goldenen Hirsch") of Hirschbach Suhl by Herbert Roth and Waltraut Schulz ( 1930-2017) first sung in public. The song begins with the following verses:

    I like to wander the country on the Rennsteig,

    The Rennsteiglied is considered the "secret national anthem of Thuringia". It is more well-known than the actual Thuringian hymn Thuringia, lovely country.
