      Lourdes Grotto

In 1892, Anton Kohl came to Dietfurt as parish priest. On his initiative, the Beautification Association was founded that same year, which immediately began creating hiking trails on the Kreuzberg. That same year, Kohl also initiated the construction of the Lourdes Grotto and designed the plan himself.
The necessary tuff stones were brought from the Holnstein im Labertal area by horse-drawn carts. The construction of the grotto was primarily carried out by the parish priest at the time, Richard Hofmaier. His descendants continue to maintain the beautiful complex to this day.

The Lourdes Grotto was ceremoniously inaugurated on Sunday, June 4, 1893, with a festive procession and subsequent celebration. The staircase was originally made of rubble stone, but was later replaced with concrete.
A comprehensive renovation took place in 1994.
Every year on the Feast of the Rosary (the second Sunday in October), a candlelight procession takes place from the parish church to the grotto, and one of the May devotions is also held here.
