The Kapellenberg between Bedheim and Simmershausen is a divided Keuper hill. Material was taken from the middle to build roads, leaving two hilltops. A wonderful dry grassland area, from the top of the hill you have a wonderful view of the Gleichberge.

Mountain biking

The Kapellenberg is of volcanic origin and used to be a cult mountain. It is still sometimes referred to as "Kappele" in colloquial speech. Based on the name and the name of the area, it is assumed that there used to be a chapel here. This is said to have been a stopover on the processional route from St. Mary's Church in Roth to St. Mary's Church in Adelhausen.
This is explained in more detail on the plaque, the writing on which can just about be read.
