The city wall with the towers are very worth seeing on the river side.

Dinkelsbühl is on the Romantic Road, which says it all. However, it is also a bit overcrowded. If you like the Middle Ages, half-timbered houses and historic buildings, this is the place for you.

Beautiful old town, which is also used by cars. The fantastic houses, the many fountains and the whole ambience invite you to visit.

Dinkelsbühl is close to the border with Baden-Württemberg. The city is located on the Wörnitz in the southeast of the Frankenhöhe, which belongs to the Keuper level in the south-west German strata between the Main and the Danube. Pushed to the west by a castle sandstone dome east of today's run, the Wörnitz formed a flat, triangular valley depression, which is almost completely filled by the old town of Dinkelsbühl. In the north-west and south-east, the city wall runs along the morphological edge of the bladder sandstone, which forms a plateau beyond the city moat between the valley cuts of two streams that flow from the west into the Wörnitz. In the northern valley cut, in which the bladder sandstone was washed down to the lower layers of Lehrberg, flows the Sauwasenbach, which caused a ford that is still visible today when the water is low due to its washed-up sands, which was probably an incentive for the establishment of a location at this location. To the east, the old town is bordered by the Mühlgraben, a straightened branch of the Wörnitz, beyond which the Wörnitzvorstadt can still be counted towards the Dinkelsbühler old town area.

From the Friday of the third to the Sunday of the fourth weekend in July, Dinkelsbühl hosts the Kinderzeche every year. There is then a detailed festival programme, which can be read on the website "kinderzeche.de". There will be e.g. B. closed the gates of the old town and showed how the children's lore and their children liberated the city from the Swedes. There is an entrance fee, but it is definitely worth seeing because everyone is dressed in the old-fashioned costumes, whether children, soldiers, riders, horses...

Beautiful old town with lots of sights and great restaurants. Something for everyone. Very busy on nice days, of course. And the cobblestones are not for wimps ;)

Dinkelbühl is worth seeing but a lot of traffic, which spoils the sightseeing a bit.

The cobblestones in the old town of DKB are unreasonable for cyclists! The problem would be easy to fix with lanes for cyclists.

Dinkelsbühl has a beautiful old town. Even in the 1960s, no architectural sins were committed here, thanks to the building regulations, as our tour guide explained to us.
