Gummer's How

Recommended by 165 hikers out of 166

Although diminutive

compared to the fells and mountains to the north, at 1,053 feet (321 m)

Gummer’s How is the highest point above Windermere’s southern shores and

rewards walkers with sensational lake views. Thanks to this, Gummer’s How is

deservedly popular. It’s an ideal objective as a final flourish at the end of

an extended visit to the national park.

One of the Lake

District’s most popular viewpoints

Gummer's How is situated on the eastern shore of Windermere, near its southern end. While the hill is small by Lakeland standards, it affords magnificent views over Windermere, across to the Coniston fells and Morecambe Bay.

Worth the short but interesting hike from the road to get amazing views across the Lake District.

Easy to reach from the car park. For the few meters of elevation you get a fantastic panoramic view.
