The lock Anderten, formerly known as Hindenburg lock, in Hannover-Anderten overcomes a difference in height of 14.70 m between the west attitude and the peak position of the Mittelland Canal. It was the largest inland lock in Europe at the time of its inauguration in 1928.

The lock is (again) passable, so that you can cross the canal more calmly here than via Lehrter Str. at the other end of the lock. This lock is an impressive structure. But you have a better "overview" (even without stopping and getting off 😜) from Lehrter Str. because you can look from above.
