The parish church of St. Vigilius was first mentioned in 1337. The old baptismal font on the inside dates back to 1033.
In 1515 Kurtatsch was raised to a parish. The late Gothic altar with the altarpiece on which the martyrdom of St. Vigilius is depicted was made in 1850.
However, the parish church of Kurtatsch also surrounds something mystical: the crying oil painting of Our Lady. On November 28, 1733, a soldier of the emperor visited a Kurtatsch farm. When the rosary was prayed in the evening, he noticed a drop in the image of the Madonna. It looked like she was crying. This phenomenon repeated itself and the pastor reported it to the bishop, who sent a commission to examine the event. No deception was found. The picture was then exhibited in the parish church on July 17, 1738 and since then it has been the destination of numerous pilgrims every year.
