The Schloss Langenstein is located in Hegau and is owned by the Graf Douglas family. It houses a carnival museum and is known beyond the region for its affiliated golf and country club. The main building of the present palace complex was built essentially around 1570-1605 around a square tower. Later, the facility was expanded by the so-called New Castle and connected to an intermediate wing. It has a castle chapel. Further buildings such as the Ludwigshof and the Reichenauer Zehntkeller complete the complex. Schloss Langenstein has served the Douglas family since 1906 as its main residence. Axel Graf Douglas had a golf course created, the castle became a clubhouse, the family moved into the former Gasthof Ludwigshof. In 2014 he sold the castle to his cousin Christoph Graf Douglas, who died in 2016.
