Laacher See has arisen in the crater of a no longer active volcano filled with water. The lake is surrounded by a picturesque, wooded ring wall, which was probably created many years ago by strong explosions in the volcanic eruptions.Today, the lake is a paradise for cyclists who can circle the water on beautiful paths. For resting loads on the way campsite on the lake, where there is also a beach. The entrance fees for the beach are 4 euros for adults and 2 euros for children. The beach is open daily from 9 am to 6 pm in the off-season and from 9 am to 7 pm in the high season.

Laacher See can be circled on route L on foot or by bike. The route runs closely along the lake and is almost 9 km long.
