Tucked away in the trees is Minster (or Boscastle) Church. It is home to one of the largest roosts of greater horseshoe bats in the country.
Nestled even further in the woodlands the final resting place of Joan Wytte, a local woman known as the Fighting Fairy Woman of Bodmin who was unjustly thought to be a witch. She died in Bodmin Jail in 1813 and her skeleton eventually became an exhibit of the nearby Witchcraft Museum, cruelly hung on the wall. The new owners wanted to give her a proper burial so she was laid to rest here in 1998, just outside the consecrated grounds of the church, who would not allow her to be buried within it.
