The Church of St. Peter in Supetarska Draga is the oldest surviving church in Rab. It was donated to the Benedictine monks in 1059 by Rab bishop Drago, and in 1070 King Petar Kresimir IV certified the deed of donation.

The church has the simple shape of a three-aisled basilica with a simple front and an equally simple but beautiful marble portal. Inside the church you can see some valuable paintings and objects.

The church, built in 1059, is located in Supetarska Draga and is the oldest church on Rab, next to which the oldest Benedictine monastery once stood. The monastery was founded by Rab bishop Drago; Permission to found the monastery was granted in 1071 by the Croatian king Petar Krešimir IV. The church was built as a three-aisled basilica and has recently been restored. This church is considered to be one of the best preserved Romanesque structures on the east coast of the Adriatic. In the church there is still a Gothic bell, which is the oldest on the Croatian Adriatic coast. It was cast in 1290 by the bell founder Luka, a monk from Venice.

During a church service, I was lucky enough to admire the interior of this beautiful Romanesque basilica
