The Königsee is a lake northeast of the village Plötzky in Saxony-Anhalt belonging to Schönebeck (Elbe). The city of Gommern lies north of the lake.
The lake, surrounded by forest, was created as a result of quartzite rock being mined. In 1920, however, mining was stopped. The lake in the Plötzky district reaches a depth of up to 25 meters and has a surface area of around 7,800 m². It is also used regularly by diving athletes.
