      Hohenhain Tunnel
The Hohenhain Tunnel on the former railway line between Freudenberg and Hohenhain.

The tunnel was built from 1906 to the end of 1907. At 396 meters, it was the longest railway tunnel in what was then the Prussian province of Westphalia. The railway had been running from Olpe to Rothemühle since 1880, and eight years later, with the construction of the section from Freudenberg via Hohenhain to Rothemühle, the connection from Kirchen to Freudenberg was completed. In 1983, railway operations were stopped at the start of the summer timetable and the tracks were dismantled in March/April 1988.

In 1998, the local history association fought to ensure that the tunnel was not walled up. In 2004, RWE brought light into the tunnel and in 2005 the tunnel was added to the Freudenberg city monument list.
