Super nice little church in Tating. We always rode the bike to St. Peter-Ording. In the evening from the beach trip back to Tating, we knew that we were soon at the property, as we always say the top of the church.

Tall and towering high in the sky, visible from afar, this is how it stands in the middle of Tating: the St.Magnus Church. It is the oldest church on the Eiderstedt peninsula, founded in 1103.

First a wooden chapel, it was rebuilt in Romanesque times on field stone foundations as a larger church. So she has been inviting you for more than 900 years: to pray, to hear the word of God, to praise and make music for the glory of God.

Many generations of people from Tating and the surrounding area have come to the Church on joyful but sad occasions in life to thank them, to ask for God's blessing and help - and it is still so today. Guests also use the opportunity to celebrate their wedding ceremony or the baptism of a child here.

A stop is also worthwhile to relax and to discover its diverse peculiarities.

Anyone visiting the church can admire an abundance of cultural treasures from past centuries: one of the few box chairs that have survived is reminiscent of the typical seating in all Eiderstedt churches over the past 400 years. The three-winged Gothic altar (carved figures) dates from around 1450, some parts from the 17th century.
