This segment nearby the former Twente airport is quite interesting to cycle and explore. The quality of the asphalt is ok, that said you may expect a bumpy road at certain moments. On the other hand, you will not encounter much traffic. Moreover, you will be cycling through roads that were once closed to the public. If you have the time, explore the area nearby this segment… you will see some traces of the Second World War, such as shooting ranges or casemates. There are also some parts that are now areas of environmental preservation.

Time to time there are events organised in the former Twente airport. I would recommend to check that out before going out to cycle, given that the traffic intensity considerably increases during those events.
