At 1,500 feet (457 m), Nenthead is England's highest village. Nestled amongst the North Pennine hills, the village enjoys stunning views over the surrounding countryside. Until the 1980s, Nenthead was an industrial centre for lead and silver mining. Although the mine has since closed, it is open to visitors. Nenthead has a nice cafe, pub and a useful bike shop.

Can stop here for bike mechanic, shop and a new cafe (coffee). Remote spot between Alston and Allenheads.
