The group of bronze sculptures at the AVUS entrance opposite the ICC in the area of the former north curve was created by Max Esser (1885-1943) in 1938/39, but was not installed at the time. Two of the three motor wheel sculptures remained in the Noack foundry. They were set up in 1989 in a small green area at the AVUS entrance on the corner of Messedamm and Halenseestraße opposite the ICC.
The sculpture shows two larger-than-life motorcycle racers, bent far forward over their motorcycles, wearing helmets and goggles. They depict Ernst Henne on a BMW and Ewald Kluge on a DKW. Heiner Fleischmann on his NSU is missing. The sculptures stand on a sloping racing track that rests on a brick base.

They are the motorcycle racers Ewald Kluge and Ernst Jakob Henne.
Kluge was German champion and European champion in the 250 class. He celebrated his greatest triumph in June 1938 when he won the toughest motorcycle race in the world, the Tourist Trophy on the Isle of Man.
Henne, also known as the "Fast Henne", undertook numerous motorcycle world record attempts for BMW from 1929 onwards. He set the first official world speed record on a 750 BMW at 216.75 km/h over the mile with a flying start. 76 world speed records followed, most recently in 1937 at 279.5 km/h
