There is of course only one answer to attractiveness: the route is beautiful, well-developed for cyclists and offers both beautiful views of the broad Elbe and nature reserves such as the Haseldorfer Inner Elbe. Cormorants, gray herons and white-tailed eagles can be seen as spectacular inhabitants of these areas on asphalted paths that are far from traffic. Tides and barrage times
The ups and downs of the tides can be studied particularly well in the species-rich freshwater mudflats in front of the dike. To protect against overly intrusive floods, there are barrages at the tributaries of the Elbe, which follow the course of the dyke and cannot be passed by bike at all times. Under no circumstances should cyclists be deterred by the opening times of the barrages on the Pinnau and Krückau rivers. These are quickly noted and so do not hinder the planning of the day's stage!
