The oldest stone church was erected in Romanesque style in the latter half of the 12th century. To the longhouse, a narrower straight-finished cattle joined the east, and to the west a tower - 290 cm wider than the longhouse. The ground floor was covered by thin arches and opened through two arched arches divided by a center pillar - just as it still looks in East Hoby church.
The church was dedicated to St. Laurentius and a seal is found that shows this - the seal is stored at the Historical Museum in Stockholm. (Svenskakyrkan.se)
