The protected area covers 1,496 square kilometers along the Danube and its tributaries Bära and Lauchert between Tuttlingen and Herbertingen. It is managed by the registered association of the same name based in Beuron, where the most impressive part of the Danube Gorge through the Swabian Alb can be hiked.
