Built on an elevated spot, with a beautiful ensemble of old, well-kept buildings. There is always shade under the old trees for resting and relaxing.

The Tauern Church on the Ossiacher Tauern is the only remaining branch church of the Ossiach Abbey, as the branch churches of Heiligen Gestade, about 1 km to the west, and Sankt Georgen, about the same distance east of Ossiach, as well as St. Peter on the opposite shore of the lake, have long since been destroyed due to the poor building ground around the lake. This church was first mentioned in 1290 as St. Thomas Church, and in 1519 a large new building in late Gothic form followed by Magister Johannes, which Abbot Caspar Rainer had renovated in early Baroque style at the beginning of the 17th century. Nevertheless, the numerous windows are pointed arches, while the west and south portals have round arches and were appropriately enlivened by covings. A round apse of the same width adjoins the hall-like nave on the east side, while the west end of the nave is separated by a wall as a vestibule and above it as a gallery. The roof turret with a pyramid helmet rises above this part of the room.
