Since there is actually only mud flats on the mainland of the North Sea, sand has been piled up here, as in other coastal towns, and beach chairs have been placed on it. Especially out of season, you can sit here really quietly and relax with a view of the sea. But somehow there always remains the feeling that the whole system is artificial and a bit out of place.
