In 1875/77, near Schillig, in the municipality of Wangerland, a 23 meter high lighthouse was built by the Borsig Berlin company, which was replaced in 1961 by the conspicuous yellow concrete column (height 35 m) with a round yellow lantern and a flat cover with a protruding collar became.
