There are huge pieces of cake and also a dream view over the Schaalsee.

This manor house is a gem.

The aristocratic Groß Zecher estate was first mentioned in 1194 and has been owned by the von Witzendorff family since 1681. Through the introduction of the Fideikomiss, Hieronymus von Witzendorff (1695-1742), Braunschweigisch - Lüneburg Privy Councilor and Chamber President, determined the fortunes of his Groß Zecher estate to this day and stipulated that the land would henceforth be retained in the line of succession. His descendant, Ottokar von Witzendorff (1824-1890), who was born on Groß Zecher, played an important role as district administrator in the history of Schleswig-Holstein. During the negotiations for the handover of the Duchy of Lauenburg to the Prussian King Wilhelm I, he offered the Lauenburg crown.

After the death of Ottokar von Witzendorff, who died childless, Karl Friedrich Ludwig von Witzendorff became landlord at Groß Zecher. His descendants leased the land, moved to the forester's house and devoted themselves exclusively to forestry.

The manor house was built at the beginning of the 18th century as a plastered, single-storey brick building with a crooked hip roof and a wide central projectile. A two-storey half-timbered wing has been preserved on the garden front, which presumably comes from a previous building erected in 1720. The entrance to the manor house is lined by an avenue of lime trees and is flanked by two large barns from the 19th century with neo-Gothic gables. Further farm buildings from the 18th century are located south of the courtyard axis of today's manor house. In front of the manor is a closed row of workers' houses from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Since 1994 Hannelore von Witzendorff has been running a farm at Groß Zecher again and opens the estate to visitors who can stay overnight in the idyllic rural setting, get married or stop off at the "Zur Kutscherscheune" restaurant.
