From 1871, Prussian geologists swarmed out to look for iron ore and coal deposits, including in BIEBER and the surrounding area, where mining flourished in the 18th century. During geological mapping, the Prussian engineers must have noticed that many springs rise above the valley meadows, which pour into the Flörsbach or Kasselbach after a short distance.
