You Prümers are self-confident and proud!
Frankish King Pippin, son of Charles Martel and father of Emperor Charlemagne, grandfather of Louis the Pious and great-grandfather of Emperor Lothair I, founded the rule of the Carolingians in the Frankish Empire (not least with the help of Bishop Burkard of Würzburg).
(By the way, there is a statue of Pippin on the Old Main Bridge in Würzburg.)
King Pippin founded the Prüm Abbey (752), which over time developed into a family monastery of the Carolingians, further supported by Emperor Charlemagne and later by his grandson Emperor Lothar I, who also retired there to die was also buried.
Prüm was at least an essential pillar, if not the “nucleus” of the Frankish Empire under the Carolingians and thus also the nucleus for Europe.
