Today I was led around in the courtyard by a very nice DMG employee and learned a lot about the work of the DMG relief organization.
Here at Buchenauer Hof is the home center for over 400 employees who are deployed worldwide for church-related social tasks.

It all looks so sectarian that I have not yet dared to enter the beautiful courtyard of the castle.

The Buchenauerhof was already mentioned in the early 18th century. There used to be a brickworks here, so the farm was also called Ziegelhof . The neglected property was replaced by a country house and contemporary outbuildings from 1865, and extensive woodland was cleared. The farm was leased to the sugar factory in Waghäusel and offered jobs for day labourers. The country house burned down and August Benckiser replaced it with a castle-like building, into which a spiral staircase from the castle in Waldangelloch, which was demolished after 1899, was installed. In 1953, the estate passed into the possession of the Sprenger family, who had been tenants since 1940, and temporarily served as a Caritas children's convalescent home. In 1971, the "German Missionary Community", today DMG interpersonal, acquired the castle building and now uses the facility as a training and recreation center.
