Geological contact zone: The steeply inclined, foliated layer at the top shows the typical wavy folding of schist. Below it lies the much more massive, light (cream to white colored) layer of marble. Both metamorphic rocks are formed under high pressure. Clayey mud forms the starting material for the schist and calcareous deposits for the marble.
