With its forest trails, Cahermurphy Forest is a great place to explore and, when you're finished, you can enjoy a picnic by the lake. Brian Merriman, an 18th-century Irish bard, immortalised the area in his 'Cuirt an Mhean Oiche' poem, written in 1780. This stretch along the Bleach River is particularly pretty.
