Shelter 2 serves as a popular early rest or overnight camp at the Spruce and Juniper junctions, with essential facilities like a water pump, outhouse, fire pit, and a cozy indoor wood stove. Pushing further into the longer Tamarack Loop leads backpackers toward Shelter 3. No advance booking is required. The shelters are designated as backcountry emergency shelters and primitive campsites, operating strictly on a first-come, first-served basis.
