This is a splendid beach on the Shannon Estuary that's popular with families and walkers. You can stroll along the sands here for miles, enjoying the sea views and perhaps even spotting Ireland's only resident pod of bottlenose dolphins, which live in the estuary. It's also a treat for birders – bring your binoculars to spot the oystercatchers, curlews, dunlins, ringed plovers and Brent geese.
