The Speed River flows through rural Wellington County and Guelph before it joins the Grand River near Preston, and the Mill Run Trail follows it for much of its final stretch. At this lookout in the Chilligo Conservation Area, the water spills over a low weir and churns white below the railing, with trees and vines leaning out from the bank. Beyond the rough water, the river widens and settles, with grassy islands in the shallows and fields along the far bank. It’s a great place to pause and watch the current before continuing along the trail.
