The former brown coal mining area was reforested by hand by the Nicklich family over decades. In recognition of this achievement, representatives of DBU Naturerbe GmbH and the Federal Forest Service inaugurated the Nicklich Trail today and also remembered the recently deceased district manager Jery Nicklich, who, together with his wife Ramona, was responsible for the nature conservation development of the approximately 1,000 hectare area.
