Long Prairie Loop is a relatively easy route near Sandy McNabb and is part of a network of trails that winds through open meadow and forest in the foothills of Bluerock Wildland Provincial Park. It follows the lower reaches of the Long Prairie Creek valley, with early spring and late fall ideal times to walk here, since the open, south-facing slopes tend to shed snow early. In the summer, beautiful prairie wildflowers fill the meadows, though the trail is also shared with grazing cattle, so it’s worth keeping an eye out for them along the way.
