A nice stopover on the way to Lyngstuva. There is a simple wind shelter, seating, and a picnic table here – perfect for a short break, especially in the typically changeable weather.
The large information board also explains why Lyngstuva had special historical significance: the northern tip of Lyngen served as a landmark and border area between East and West for centuries. In the surrounding area, there are traces of early settlement and use, including remains of old dwellings and so-called Helliggroper (holy pits), which are associated with the processing of seal and whale blubber, among other things.
